Synopsis

After the traumatic events with the thirteenth Angel, Shinji refuses to leave Unit-01, forcing Gendō to render him unconscious. Vowing to never pilot again and facing criminal charges, Shinji leaves NERV once again. His departure is cut short by the arrival of the most power Angel yet. Despite a valiant effort, Asuka and Rei are defeated, forcing Shinji to decide what is most important to him.

Shinji runs away and becomes an average person. 

Asuka tries to defeat the Angel herself, but it proves to be too strong. It uses its two long ribbon-like arms to cut Asuka's arms of. Poor Asuka could feel it. She gets angry, then charges. The Angel begins to strike again and Misato disconnects the nerves just before the EVA's head is cut off. Shinji is hiding and Eva-02's head crashes through the roof.

A state of emergency is declared and as the people are running to the designated shelters, Shinji finds Kaji...who is spending his last moments watering melons at his garden.

Shinji returns back to headquarters. Gendo tries to activate 01 with the dummy plug, but it is refusing it.

Rei goes out in her incomplete EVA with an N2 mine. She tries to blow up the Angel, but the Angel closes its core and only the EVA is damaged.

Shinji confronts his father and gets into the EVA. The Angel gets into the Geofront and as it is just about to blow up the main headquarters, Shinji shows up and fights with it. He is shot out with the Angel out through Exit 05.

Shinji finds rage and courage and fights with the Angel. Just as he is about to defeat it, the energy reserve runs out. The Angel begins attacking and everyone sees the EVA's core.
Something inside the EVA is awakened.

The EVA has gone berserk again and begins to fight the Angel. After the Angel is defeated, the EVA begins eating the Angel and taking in the unlimited power source, S2 Organ. The Eva then breaks free from the power restraints.
