HE WAS AWARE THAT HE WAS STILL A CHILD

Synopsis

Vice-Commander Fuyutsuki has gone missing, and Misato is held captive with Kaji as the prime suspect. Fuyutsuki is being questioned by SEELE, who recounts his first involvement with Yui Ikari and Gendo Rokubungi and the events afterward. The histories of Misato, Ritsuko and Professor Akagi are also recounted.

Kaji tries to ring Misato, but she's not there. Misato is called by authorities and is asked to take care of business.

Fuyutski is called by SEELE, and the professor remembers the last time he was called professor. He met a student named Yui Ikari about a paper.

2015 AD: SEELE begins thinking of creating an Evangelion.

1999 AD: Fuyutski first meets Gendo Rokubungi and he doesn't like him. But Yui has other thoughts and thinks of marrying him.

The second impact occured in 2000 AD and in Antartica, Gendo shows Fuyutski a postcard revealing that Gendo changed his name to Ikari, and that they have a child.

2015 AD: Misato is sitting alone.

Young Misato is mute and sitting in an empty room recovering from the Second Impact.

2003 AD: Gendo is questioned about the Second Impact. But Gendo just shows to Dr. Fuyutski the Geofront, and he meets Dr. Akagi and her daughter, Ritsuko. Dr. Akagi shows Fuyutski an Evangelion protoype and Gendo asks if he will join them in Project E.

Misato and Ritsuko were friends in college and is shocked by her past. Ritsuko is writing a letter to her mother and she is replying.

Young Shinji is watching the start-up process of the Evangelion and Yui dies in the process. Gendo is tragically upset and changes.

Ritsuko joins and begins on Project E. Dr. Akagi kisses Gendo when he is grieving over Yui. Gendo turns up with a young girl and claims that she is the daughter of an acquaintance named Rei Ayanami, but Dr. Akagi is suspicious.

Dr. Akagi finishes the Magi system. She is then visited by Rei who calls her an 'old hag' and annoys her. Dr. Akagi goes mental and she chokes Rei to death. She then commits suicide in front of the Magi System. NERV was formed.

Fuyutski is visited by Kaji who sets him free.
Misato is offered a gun and she has no choice but to follow the authorities orders. Kaji is waiting and then is shot.

Misato returns home and sees a message from Kaji on the answering machine. She listens to it and begins crying. Shinji, not knowing what to do, just sits there, listening to his music and trying to not listen to her crying.

DON'T BE

A flashback shows Asuka as a child and the death of her mother. In the present her synch ration is faling to the concern of Ritsuko and Misato. She takes out her frustration on Rei in an elevator while her synch ration continues to dropl. Another Angel appears above Earth's atmosphere and begins to attack Asuka in Unit-02 directly through her mind.

REI III

As Misato mourns the loss of Kaji, Asuka becomes more withdrawn from the world. The sixteenth Angel shows up and Rei is launched to fight it, but when Shinji arrives to help, she makes the fateful decision to self-destruct to save him. SEELE reveals that only one Angel remains, while Ritsuko shows Misato and Shinji the dark secrets of NERV.

THE BEGINNING AND THE END

Synopsis

Shinji is depressed over the ruin of Tokyo-3 and all his friends who have left. A boy appears nearby who reveals himself to be Kaworu, the fifth Child. They become close friends as Kaworu excels at synch ration tests. But as suspected, Kaworu is the final Angel and takes control of Unit-02, with Shinji as the only one who can save humanity from being destroyed.

As Asuka is disposed as the Second Children, the Fifth one arrives. Kaworu begins a strange friendship with Shinji now that all his friends have left the destroyed Tokyo-3.

At the end, Kaworu reveals himself as the Last Angel, and after taking possession of EVA-02, he goes to the Central Dogma. Shinji destroys EVA-02 and gets to Kaworu who reveals the real goal of SEELE. Finally Kaworu decides to die and against his own wishes, Shinji kills him.

DO YOU LOVE ME ?

With the final Angel destroyed, Shinji struggles with his decision to kill Kaworu. He ponders why he pilots Eva; is it for the sake of mankind or simply to receive sympathy from others? Disappearing into nothingness, Gendo tells Shinji that this is simply the return to the state of the beginning, the primal womb that was lost. Misato tells him this is Instrumentality, and Shinji's wishes have shaped the world into a place of nothingness.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF

As Instrumentality continues, Shinji feels he can disappear from existence because he is unwanted. Without piloting Eva, he is useless, without an identifier. Now in a world of nothingness, with no restrictions, he can do anything, but without others he has no identity. After a glimpse at one possible existence, he realizes that the way the world is seen can change through different perceptions and that there could be value in living.
